About West Lindsey
Facts and figures
The District covers 1,156km² (447 square miles), with the administrative centre in Gainsborough on the River Trent to the west, and the market towns of Caistor and Market Rasen to the east. The topography of the District varies from the low Trent Valley to the west to the rolling hills in the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the east.
Each year we prepare a State of the District report, that looks at the current position of the district across a number of areas including health and wellbeing, the local economy, employment and skills, and housing.
This is vital to be able to understand what issues need to be addressed to be able to achieve our vision for the district and also to see the impact of the work that we have been doing over the last year.
West Lindsey District Council’s vision is that:
West Lindsey is a great place to be, where people, business and communities can thrive and reach their full potential.
Taking stock of the sate of the district each year allows us to take account of changes that are happening in and to the district so that we can see what the issues are and where resources need to be channelled to be able to achieve this vision.
